The Court of Appeal Registry is the administrative and operational arm of the Court of Appeal, responsible for facilitating the efficient delivery of appellate justice. It supports Judges of the Court of Appeal by managing case flow, maintaining court records, and providing essential procedural and logistical services to litigants, advocates, and the public.
The Registry handles the filing, processing, and tracking of appeals, applications, and related pleadings, ensuring compliance with the Court of Appeal Rules and prescribed timelines. It is also responsible for record management, including custody, indexing, and retrieval of case files and judgments.
The main Registry is located within the Supreme court Building, in Nairobi. as an enabler of justice in enhancing access to justice the Court of Appeal has decentralized its operation by establishing other registry in Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri and Mombasa and COA sub registry as circuit Court stations in Garissa, Malindi, Eldoret, Kisii, Busia and Meru
Official working Hours
The Courts Registry official working hours is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday except on public holidays or as directed by the Hon Chief Justice and president of the Supreme Court

Court of Appeal Recess
The court has three sittings in a calendar year as stipulated by the Court of Appeal (Organization and Administration) Act (Cap 9A)
The Court recess annually as provided for under Section 26 of the Act are as follows —
from the Thursday before Easter Week to the Tuesday after Easter Monday, inclusive;
from 1st August to 15th September, inclusive; and
from 21st December to 12th January, inclusive.
Staff of the Court of Appeal Registry
Deputy Registrar(s) Assist the Registrar with management of registry services, case flow coordination, execution of court decisions, library services, and administrative functions.
Court Administrator’s Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Court of Appeal registry, supervision of staff, ensuring that filings, cause lists, document movements are handled efficiently.
Court Assistants Handle interpretation, transmission, and return of files to/from the registry; prepare summaries and registry returns.
Court Registry Assistants Manage the registration of appeals and applications, custody and retrieval of files, preparation of cause lists, maintenance of registers, customer service and initial public interaction.
Office administrator. Responsible for typing of notices, orders, transcription of proceedings and Hospitality services within deployed offices of the court
Records Management Officer / Archivist Maintains proper filing systems, safety and custody of records, and assists with retrieval of archived materials.
Court Process Servers Serve court processes (notices, summons, orders) to parties and relevant institutions.
Accounts / Finance Officer (Accountant) Manages registry financial transactions, such as fee collection, deposits, and other financial records.
ICT Officer Supports electronic records systems, registry databases, and audio-visual recording where applicable.
Administrative Support Staff (Office Administrate Assistants / Assistants) Provide clerical support, typing of notices/orders, hospitality services, mail handling, and general registry duties.
