Civil Application registry deals with matters in regard to proceedings from the High Court or tribunals before a final determination is reached, typically to preserve the status quo or address necessary formalities.
Applications can either be heard by a single Judge or a bench of three or more Judges.
Single Judge Applications
- Applications for extension of time.
- Substitution of a deceased party.
- Applications to file an appeal as a pauper.
- Applications for abatement or leave to withdraw an appeal, inter alia
Full Court applications
- Stay of execution, stay of proceedings, or injunctions
- Striking out
- Additional evidence or amendment
- Substitution of parties
- Leave to file a supplementary record
- Application to be admitted as an amicus or interested party
- Application for Contempt, inter alia
